Successful gardening in 100 degree weather is all about plant choices. My best performer this first year in Texas is this lovely sunflower. Having positioned the 'sippin cousins' before this leggy beauty untold drama unfurled.

To all those frustrated, hot parents in Oklahoma and Texas here is a zany Grandma tip. Hook up the sprinkler on a July evening. We have a Scooby Doo sprinkler but anything that sprays water will work. Place it under the swing set and throw balls at your kids. Trust me, they will love it!
