Bottoms up!

This fall has not been all relocation stress. We had the pleasure of a canyon tour with relatives and it's time to share the view. Explorers Michelle, Cindy and Debbie prepare to journey into the unknown world of slot canyons.

First stop Page, Arizona and the Antelope Canyon. This canyon is experienced from the bottom up and fall was perfect timing. Single file, shoulder to shoulder gawking would not be enjoyable in the heat of the summer tourist season.

Sandstone walls exposed to water in the form of flash floods, stand strong but flexible. The result is a narrow passage of color, rocky waves and beams of sunlight. Our guide had witnessed the collection of water at the south end of the canyon and the climatic and violent sucking of water through the slot. You do not visit when rain threatens bordering states!

Photographers love this place. The Navajo guides cater to them and if you hang close they will use your camera to demonstrate the best shots.

Page is also the home of Lake Powell and we did the dam tour. Yards of concrete result in miles of electricity production. Dam claustrophobic and a long ride to the bottom where you will find an acre of golf course green Bermuda! From this point the waters of the Colorado continue to the Grand Canyon and so did we. To be continued...
