Isabella Sprunt had a problem. Her neighbor Mrs. Dudley Cross had a strange growth in her yard. Bouncing Bet, Isabella's poodle and Lavender Lassie, her collie, were barking at it. Lafter, her tom cat, was meowing at it. Maggie, her goat, wanted to eat it!

Isabella Sprunt phoned her friend Marie Pave for advice. "What should I do? It looks like a  tree from the Cat in the Hat! My animals are perplexed." Marie Pave suggested calling The Fairy.

The Fairy, a magical lime green garden expert, appeared. She sat at the very tip of the Dr. Seuss growth. "Don't be wary, it's nothing scary," said The Fairy. "This special plant appears only once in its life time." It's not an alien. It's not a giant asparagus. It's a Century plant. Let's celebrate!

The Fairy, Isabella Sprunt, Marie Pave and all the critters began to dance. Mrs. Dudley Cross looked out her living room window and smiled. Her neighbors were performing the Walking on Sunshine dance. It only happens once a century.

PS: Italicized words are names of roses found in the FW Botanical Gardens. The Century plant resides in the Creekwood addition.
