There are moments in life when it is difficult to breathe. You hold your breath when your daughter gently brushes the mane of her equine companion. You hold your breath when she halters him for a last walk to the pasture. You hold your breath when she kisses him goodbye.
You don't breathe again until you're alone. You don't breathe again until a sunset explodes from under the threat of thunderstorms. You don't breathe, you sob and thank God you were part of a moment that took your breath away.
Poncho, place of birth, somewhere in Texas; final pasture, with love in Oklahoma.
Beautiful words. Peace.
