My Bucket List

We had a fun evening Monday night visiting with two GTI employees. Over ribs and beans, I learned that Rusty, the TM from Amarillo, owned several bars in his past life and Gary, the FSC out of Albuquerque, was a highway patrol officer who most likely arrested some of Rusty's patrons. Helpful info was shared on the best time to buy Indian handicrafts, ordering Jack Daniels and coke, and how to get a HP officer to change your tire! It was Rusty who brought up the concept of the "bucket list". Rusty is on that glorious downhill slide to retirement and mentioned a couple of things he plans to do before he "kicks the bucket".

Of course this got me pondering the contents of my "bucket list". I'm afraid it has grown rusty with the stresses of past employment etc., but now is my time to update that list! This list will be confined to things I would like to accomplish or explore. I do not plan to include deeds of a noble nature on this list. I have been fortunate to accomplish prior life goals, but I will be looking at this list through the lens of retirement.

To be explored: the Grand Tetons, Alaska, Zac & Cindy's beach house, Georgia O'Keefe's Ghost Ranch and the O'Keefe Museum, the Grand Canyon Phantom Ranch, Montana and Glacier National Park, and Black Mesa.

To be accomplished: find Lyle Lovett, get Mike in a T-38 Talon jet at Vance, and try fly fishing.

Looks like a good start with some overlapping and challenges. To discover the Phantom Ranch I will have to accomplish a hike in and out of the Grand Canyon, Lyle probably doesn't want to be found and taking all those road trips will require finding the perfect work from home job. Better give Zac and Cindy a call for starters.
